Failure is part of Success

One of the things I struggle with is consistency. I've been getting better at it, but again, fitness and healthy eating don't come naturally to me, so it's much easier for me to fall off the wagon than to stay on it. Ryan and I have fallen off the wagon the last week or so. We finished our previous workout program and celebrated with a treat.....which lead to more treats and eventually this past weekend we were completely derailed. I find it much easier to cheat on my nutrition when I have periodic unhealthy snacks. I believe in balance, but sometimes it's hard for me to stay on track without completely cutting out all junk food. Ryan and I enjoyed our break from healthy eating, but in turn we now feel sluggish and bloated and just weighed down.

How do you guys balance your cheat meals with your desire to lead a healthier life?

That has been the question for me. Funny enough, we stuck to a workout schedule and didn't compromise on it even though our eating wasn't on point. Usually for me, if I stop eating well, I also stop working out. So the fact that I continued to work out despite what I was eating, is a small step in the right direction for me and my goal for a healthier life.

So what have we done to fix this? Well we had to essentially start over. No more junk food in the house, no more eating out, and no more cheat meals for awhile to help get us back on track. The most important thing to remember when you fall off your nutrition or fitness program, or with any goal really, is that you only fail if you stop trying. If you keep going and get back up, you will never truly fail. Marilyn Monroe said, " Just because you fail once, it doesn't mean you're going to fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself because if you don't then who will?" I fell off the wagon, but I'm not giving up on my goal and desire to live a healthy life for myself and my family. I just need to pick myself back up and keep going. You can do it too. If you've failed at something or feel defeated, please don't quit. It is much harder to start again then it is to keep going even with a setback. If you are consistent you can achieve anything. I am working on staying consistent so I will see positive long term results.

I just wanted to share with you that we aren't perfect and have set backs as well. We know how hard it is to stay on track and will succumb to an easier more instant gratification type way of life sometimes, but the point is to never lose sight of your goals in life. Always pick yourself back up, dust yourself off, and keep going. That's the only way you will see success.
